Golf broadcaster Amanda Balionis shared her ‘success’ on Instagram as Rory McIlroy retreated to his $17 million Florida mansion with his wife Erica Stoll following his U.S. Open heartbreak.
The CBS Sport presenter had been enjoying a break with friends as she took a weekend off the action at Pinehurst No.2. Balionis posted bikini-clad photos and snaps of her soaking up the sun with her pals in the Hamptons.
Balionis uploaded a collection of pictures with the caption: “(mon)Tauk about off-week success”. Her post came just hours after McIlroy, who was rumored to be romantically linked with the presenter, squandered the chance to win his first major in a decade.
The Northern Irishman held a two-stroke lead heading into the final part of Sunday’s finale at Pinehurst No.2. But the 35-year-old bogeyed three of the last four holes, seeing Bryson DeChambeau grab the title from under his nose on the last hole.
McIlroy was left visibly distraught watching DeChambeau seal the title on the final hole and immediately returned to his Florida home with his wife Erica. The couple filed for divorce last month before they decided to give their marriage another go as McIlroy called the split plans off.
During the temporary separation from his wife, McIlroy was rumored to be linked with Balionis. The presenter was spotted without her wedding ring and is said to have embraced McIlroy with a hug after the Canadian Open earlier this month.

But any potential fling looks to have been quashed by McIlroy’s decision to give his marriage a second go. The two evidently enjoyed very contrasting weekends, and the disappointment from the Holywood star has seemingly had a significant effect as he announced he’s taking a short break from golf.
McIlroy wrote on social media: “Yesterday was a tough day, probably the toughest I’ve had in my nearly 17 years as a professional golfer. Firstly, I’d like to congratulate Bryson. He is a worthy champion and exactly what professional golf needs right now. I think we can all agree on that.
“As I reflect on my week, I’ll rue a few things over the course of the tournament, mostly, the 2 missed putts on 16 and 18 on the final day. But, as I always try to do, I’ll look at the positives of the week that far outweigh the negatives.
“As I said at the start of the tournament, I feel closer to winning my next major championship than I ever have. The one word that I would describe my career as is resilient. I’ve shown my resilience over and over again in the last 17 years and I will again.
“I’m going to take a few weeks away from the game to process everything and build myself back up for my defense of the Genesis Scottish Open and The Open at Royal Troon. See you in Scotland.”
