The trade of Haason Reddick to the New York Jets from the Philadelphia Eagles was one of the team’s more surprising offseason transactions, and things are already off to a bad start.
The New York Jets mandatory minicamp began today, and Haason Reddick was reportedly the only player who did not show up after he had already made the decision to skip the voluntary portion of the offseason.
In addition, Reddick has reportedly had zero contact with New York Jets head coach Robert Salah since he was traded to the team.
That is a massive problem for a new incoming player who will be vital to the team’s success.
ESPN reports that his two-month absence from voluntary minicamp cost him a $250,000 workout bonus.
They further added that if the New York Jets linebacker decides to blow off the minicamp, it will result in more than $50,000 in fines.
For what it’s worth, head coach Robert Saleh has stated he expects Haason Reddick to attend despite having zero contact with the two-time Pro Bowl selection.
Haason Reddick Is Seeking A New Contract Before Hitting The Field In 2024

Haason Reddick simply wants to get paid before he takes chances of stepping on the field and injuring himself.
Reddick, who has 50.5 sacks over the past four seasons with several teams per ESPN, was seeking a new contract from Philadelphia before he would get traded to the New York Jets this offseason.
Him seeking a contract did not end with the trade, as he has chosen to stay away from the Jets until he gets one.
Reddick has every reason to seek a deal. The remaining portion of his current contract, which is non-guaranteed at $14.25 million, is less than the rising market value of the best pass-rushers in the league.
