This Morning sparked frustration among its viewers with a discussion about the scorching European weather and global warming.

Weatherwoman Laura Tobin joined Dr Zoe Williams, Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley as the stars kicked off the conversation this Wednesday, June 19, as Europe continues to swelter in heatwaves while the UK has remained cool.

As the group teased high temperatures for next week, they questioned a couple, Laura and Ross Colledge, stationed on their boat with their children in sun-soaked Greece, which was swept up in its own heatwave.

In recent news, tourist tragedies have plagued the country and four individuals have vanished in the 40C weather. TV doctor Michael Mosley also passed away under tragic circumstances during his own stay on the isle of Symi, which is part of the Dodecanese island group.

But while the This Morning team were engaged in the conversation, viewers flocked to X, otherwise known as Twitter, to call out the segment, which they judged harshly as Brits continue to wonder where summer has gone.

“It’s less than 20⁰c here, why this narrative?”, one social media user fumed while another pointed out: “Most of us have had to have the heating on in June here.”

A third added: “#thismorning scaremongering already for a summer we’ve not even had. Temperature’s with highs of 24c next week ? Gee whizz ! It should’ve been that already these past few weeks.”

Another chipped in: “We had hail a cpl of days ago so my sympathy levels are none existent”, just as a fifth jumped in: “Who are they trying to convince ? had an extra blanket on my bed for weeks. Usually can’t sleep under the duvet in May or June.” Startled by the reactions, another viewer argued: “People think global warming doesn’t exist because its cool where they are.”

Elsewhere, another handful of viewers couldn’t help but slam the guests, who confirmed that temperatures were definitely on the rise in Greece with a sweltering 39C set for the end of the week.

The couple notably revealed that their children were “schooling online” during their stay in Greece as they spend an hour on their schoolwork before taking a break in the turquoise sea. They then recommended that people wishing to travel should opt for “windier” and cooler areas.

Fans had plenty to say online. “‘Are you living on a boat in Greece ? Do you want five minutes of fame on Daytime TV ? Contact the team and then watch X have a right pop at you'”, one cynical viewer wrote. Another echoed: “Let’s all pray for the rich people on a private boat, poor lambs.”
