Luana Alonso is a swimmer from Paraguay who has been kicked out of the Olympic village for what many are calling inappropriate behaviour on her part.

Luana Alonso has been living in an Olympic village in Paris while she’s been competing at the Olympics. All athletes from various different countries live in these villages and hang out together, go for dinner, train together, and simply socialize while they wait for their turn to compete.

Larissa Schaerer is the Committee Olympic Paraguay general manager, and on Sunday she issued a statement saying that Alonso was not getting along with the others in the village and that it was leading to very inappropriate behaviours, negatively affecting the rest of the team.

These comments really made Alonso upset, so she requested to leave the village and Schaerer gave her the go ahead to do so.

Alonso left the village and everyone thought she was gone for good. That was not the case unfortunately, as she returned the very next day and was posting online as if she were on a vacation, rather than an athlete. Schaerer couldn’t believe what she was seeing, and actually told Alonso to “get lost”.

It hasn’t been a very good Olympics for Alonso thus far, as she has not been winning any medals and has been in the media for bad reasons as opposed to good ones.

In the 100m butterfly swim race, Alonso came in 6th place, and she failed to qualify for the semi-finals. After these abysmal performances, she made the official announcement on her Instagram that she would be retiring from swimming.

Reports also came out that she was remaining in Paris, likely to continue it as a vacation, since she is no longer an athlete at the Olympics. Au revoir Luana, you will likely not be missed.

(Translated to English) It’s official now! I’m retiring from swimming, thank you all so much for the support! Sorry Paraguay ♥️ I only have to thank you!
