Wendy Williams’ friend claims star’s guardianship is ‘worse’ than Britney Spears’ as ‘stranger has control’

WENDY Williams’ friend claimed the star’s guardianship is worse than the conservatorship Britney Spears was in as “a stranger has control” of the former TV host’s life.

In an exclusive interview with The U.S. Sun, Wendy’s lifelong friend Regina Schell opened up about her concerns over the type of guardianship the former TV host is under.

Regina notes Wendy’s guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, was court-appointed and was a stranger to the star before she took control of her life in 2022.

“This is a Britney Spears thing, only it’s worse since it’s not even Wendy’s family who has control,” her friend said.

“At least with Britney Spears it was her dad, it was her family, this is a woman whose not even family.

“And how does this guardian get all this standing?

“Wendy was looking for real estate, she was talking to a financial expert at Bank of America to try to gain control of her finances.

” I don’t know how she went to at least 90% Wendy to now she’s incapacitated and can never see anyone again.”

“What’s the end game in all of this?” the friend questioned.

“She should be surrounded by friends and family right now, not isolated and alone,” Wendy’s frustrated friend said.

Regina previously opened up to The U.S. Sun about how she stayed with Wendy for a majority of 2022.

The star’s friend said at one point she, along with Wendy’s sister Wanda Finnie, and the guardian, were all working together on helping with Wendy’s needs.

“Initially, when I was staying with Wendy in the summertime, we were like triangulating, we were speaking to Sabrina, but then she kind of disappeared,” she claimed.

Regina said that’s when the trouble began in getting Wendy’s food deliveries on time.

“She would order food at like 7:30 in the morning and breakfast wouldn’t arrive till 11:30 and by that time she’s ready for lunch,” she said.

In the aftermath of the Where is Wendy Williams? Lifetime documentary, Regina appeared on NewsNation to talk about what she saw while living with Wendy in 2022.

Wendy Williams Alcohol-Related Brain Damage, Aphasia & Frontotemporal Dementia Diagnoses

By The U.S. Sun’s Senior Reporter Jessica Finn, who has reported on Wendy Williams for the past seven years.

As The U.S. Sun exclusively reported, Wendy Williams was diagnosed with alcohol-related brain damage in 2019 during a rehab stint in Florida.

An insider explained that a brain scan was done as part of Wendy’s rehab stay in Delray Beach.

A neurologist sat down with the star, her son, and her then-husband, Kevin Hunter Sr.

“The doctor explained to them that Wendy was suffering from alcohol-related brain damage.

“They told her that her alcohol abuse had done permanent damage to the layers in her brain,” the insider said.

“She was warned then and there that if she continued to drink, the damage would only get worse.”

In that meeting, they gave Wendy a devastating prognosis.

The doctors at the rehab foretold of the eventual decline of Wendy’s cognitive abilities, which have become apparent to those who have come in contact with the star in recent years.

“They told her that if she kept drinking she would continue to grow more forgetful, that she wouldn’t remember people’s names, and eventually, she could forget who people even were,” the source said.

After a comment call was sent to Wendy’s team, they released a statement saying Wendy had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia in 2023.

“The decision to share this news was difficult and made after careful consideration, not only to advocate for understanding and compassion for Wendy, but to raise awareness about aphasia and frontotemporal dementia and support the thousands of others facing similar circumstances,” the statement read.

She lashed out at Wendy’s guardian in that chat.

“When I was in New York and staying with Wendy in the summer, I noticed when she would call… she had no access to her money,” Regina told the outlet.

“So, every time she had to do anything that she had to pay for, she had to go through the guardian.”

The star’s childhood best friend said that often Wendy would go hours without food.

“When I went back to Los Angeles, I would have to send her food from Los Angeles to New York from a delivery service, because she wasn’t getting… the communication wasn’t there.

“And she had no other access to money other than this guardian,” the friend added.

WENDY’S GUARDIANSHIP

Wendy’s bank, Wells Fargo, froze her bank accounts and filed a petition to hold a guardianship hearing for Wendy in early 2022.

In a complaint against the bank for locking the star out of her accounts, the star’s lawyer said Wendy’s former financial advisor advised Wells Fargo that Wendy “was of unsound mind,” which triggered the bank to freeze her accounts.

Wells Fargo had referenced its authority to freeze her accounts “pending judicial or administrative remedies, should they suspect financial exploitation, dementia, or undue influence.”

The daytime talk show host was soon placed in a court-appointed guardianship under attorney Sabrina Morrissey.

Wendy’s family claimed they do not know where she is, and that they only know she is in a rehab facility, according to People.

Wendy’s family, including her son and sister Wanda, claimed she can only call them and the only person who knows where she is is her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina.
