Alex Pereira has once again posted on social media to get fans buzzing and he has once again succeeded. Pereira put up a photo of his weight registering on a scale and it showed that he was just shy of 106 kg, which is a bit over 230 pounds.

A Pereira heavyweight move is something many MMA fans want and @espnmma on X reposted the photos asking the online fanbase if we can see Pereira move up to that top of the totem pole division next.

Several X users responded to the post with fervent passion and enthusiasm for this idea as well as theories around the idea it could happen soon.

Alex Pereira’s goals and Dana White’s hesitancy

Alex Pereira has lofty goals to become the UFC’s first three-division champion but it seems like the promotion’s figurehead is not as warm on the idea.

White addressed this at the UFC 303 post-fight press conference after ‘Poatan’ headlined the event. Pereira was on the heels of notching his second light heavyweight title defense with an early second-round knockout of Jiri Prochazka in a rematch on June 29.

The native of Brazil has also held middleweight gold in the company and White stated that Joe Rogan was getting in his ear about Pereira fighting either interim champion Tom Aspinall or lineal heavyweight titleholder Jon Jones. In the fallout of UFC 303 when speaking to the press on Pereira chasing history, White said:

“It’s not that I’m not into it. The guy was a middleweight then moves up to light heavyweight. He’s had a couple fights there, defended his title. But it’s not like this guy’s been in the division for two years and he ran through everybody that’s in the division… It’s a whole other level going up to heavyweight.”

“Even as big as Jon Jones is, as good as Jon Jones is, when Jon Jones was moving up to heavyweight, we’re like ‘this is going to be interesting’… If he cleaned out a division and we were like, there’s literally nobody left for this guy to fight, and he’s 37, if he wants to move up to heavyweight [we would let him], but that’s not the case.”
