Bob passed away in his Los Angeles home on August 26, 2023, at 99 – precisely one year ago.

The legendary figure hosted The Price is Right from 1972 to 2007.

At the end of his 35-year tenure, he’d broken the record for continuous performances on the same network TV show and hosted well into his 80s, still taping five shows a week.

When Bob retired, he was replaced by its current host, Drew Carey.

As of this writing, the CBS show has not shared a tribute on its X account, Facebook, or Instagram pages.

But that didn’t stop fans from remembering the date and sharing their own.

‘ONE YEAR WITHOUT BOB’

“Today marks one year without Bob Barker,” one X user wrote. “The legendary ‘Price is Right’ host passed away on this day last year, just four months shy of his 100th birthday. May he RIP.”

“Remembering Bob Barker one year later,” wrote another. “Some of my favorite Bob Barker memories were contestants playing Plinko, Cliffhangers, and Three Strikes.”

“I can’t believe it has been a year that #BobBarker passed away,” wrote a third.

“Rest In Peace Bob Barker! We lost you one year ago today,” penned a fourth.

“Can’t believe it’s been a year since we lost the GOAT. R.I.P. Bob!,” wrote a fifth.

“One year ago today, Bob Barker passed away at the age of 99. For me, he was the absolute best game show host ever,” a sixth wrote on Reddit.

A seventh penned: “He was such a legend his style and charm, he’s definitely missed I still watch some of his episodes on YouTube from time to time, he was and still is the greatest and still missed to this day.”

LOSS OF A LEGEND

Bob died on the morning of Saturday, August 26, 2023, in his Los Angeles home due to natural causes.

When he died, his publicist, Roger Neal, confirmed the loss in a statement.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce that the World’s Greatest MC who ever lived, Bob Barker has left us.”

Barker was married to Dorothy Jo Gideon from 1945 until her death from lung cancer at age 57 in 1981.

Bob is survived by his half-brother, Kent Valandra, and his girlfriend, Nancy Burnet, who had been overseeing his care.

He shared no children with either of his partners, something he never regretted.

Bob began hosting The Price is Right in 1972 and was a TV host for over 50 years.

Due to his passion for animal rights, his iconic tagline at the end of each episode was: “Help control the pet population.

“Have your pet spayed or neutered.”

The iconic TV star’s achievements included 19 Emmys, a Guinness World Records award, and being inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame.

WINNING LIFE STORY

Bob was born in Darrington, Washington, under modest circumstances.

He spent most of his childhood on the Rosebud Indian Reservation as a citizen of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe.

Bob joined the United States Navy Reserve during World War II.

He worked part-time in radio while attending college, and in 1950, he moved to California to pursue broadcasting.

His first game show was Truth or Consequences in 1956, and he remained in the game show circuit from then on.

Vanna White, a head-turning contestant on The Price Is Right before Wheel of Fortune, credited him for her big break.

“I’m often asked what I loved most about my years with [The Price Is Right], and the first thing that pops to mind is … the money, of course!” Bob joked to People in 2021.

“There was much to love. I had the pleasure of working with a dedicated and talented cast and crew for 35 great years.

“Particularly close to my heart was the ability our vast popularity gave me to remind our entire audience daily about the importance of spaying and neutering your pets.”

After his death, CBS held an hour-long tribute episode titled “The Price Is Right: A Tribute to Bob Barker.”

Radar Online reported that Bob left his $70 million net worth to a host of animal charities.
