A trade has been finalized between the Winnipeg Jets and Pittsburgh Penguins that will have Rutger McGroarty sent to the Penguins for Brayden Yager.

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has just broken some news on social media X that disgruntled Winnipeg Jets forward Rutger McGroarty is about to be traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins at any moment as the final details are currently being worked on.

It appears that Brayden Yager is going to be the player that gets sent back to the Winnipeg Jets.

Rutger McGroarty was drafted by the Jets in the first round of the 2022 NHL Draft with the 14th overall pick. He has never played an NHL game yet, which is a big reason he recently demanded a trade over the summer, as he wanted to be with a team who was going to give him more playing time in the NHL. It appears the Pittsburgh Penguins will be that team.

Brayden Yager was also a first-round draft pick, as he was selected 14th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins at the 2023 NHL draft. Yager has also never played a single NHL game before, but he had an absolutely fantastic season in the WHL with the Moose Jaw Warriors. He played in 57 games and scored 35 goals and had 95 points. He also won the championship with his team.

Sure looks like the Jets are getting a championship calibre player.
