The French are known quite well for their dining options. From their famous baguettes to beef bourguignon and even the classic crepes, people travel from all around the globe to try their unique dishes alone.
With the Olympic Games in Paris this year, some athletes were excited to try authentic French cuisine. You’d think the Olympic Village, where the athletes stay, would have some of the highest-quality foods out there, but according to one athlete, we may be mistaken.
Before the games began, there were already some red flags, one being that the cafeteria at the Olympic Village reportedly had a shortage of proteins like chicken and eggs. When some of the top athletes in the world call it home throughout the duration of the games, it’s not a good sign.
Not only were athletes Simone Biles and Aleah Finnegan notably disappointed with the meals served at the dining hall, but British silver medalist Adam Peaty recently made a claim that put both of those to shame.
Adam Peaty Claims Athletes Are Finding Worms In Their Fish,
Peaty claimed he was highly disappointed in the options he was given at the Paris Olympics. There “wasn’t enough proteins,” Peaty remarked in an interview that he compared the food served in Paris to what he was served in Rio and Tokyo.
The British athlete also set off some alarm bells when discussing one of his favorite dishes, claiming that “people are finding worms in the fish.” The athlete summed up his thoughts in a few words, stating, “It’s just not good enough.”
The 2024 Paris Olympics had to defend themselves after reports of the wormed fish emerged. “There’s no information that’s been able to provide validity to this sensationalist claim,” the Olympics said, adding they are “ready to make any further adjustments needed to the food service.”
While nothing has yet to be confirmed with actual evidence, given everything going on, we have to think that Peaty’s claims are valid. We’ll just have to wait to see the Olympics’ response if there is proof offered up.
