The Milwaukee Bucks’ roster will be severely lacking in talent for the upcoming campaign if they don’t make quick progress. If the front staff is successful in acquiring guard Ayo Dosunmu from the Chicago Bulls in the offseason, they can address that issue.
The Bucks’ defence and backcourt rotation might suffer if veteran guard Patrick Beverley decides to hit free agency. Dosunmu, the 38th choice overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, has demonstrated promise during his first two seasons of play.
Dosunmu’s performance improved in his third year by filling in for Zach guard LaVine, an All-Star. Throughout that specific campaign, he averaged 12.2 points, 3.2 assists, and shown strong defensive abilities. Dosunmu won’t be easy to get, though, since it might mean giving up important rotation pieces.
Dosunmu is an attractive free agent prospect for any team because of his youth and ability to create shots. He’s a desirable option because of his advantages, particularly in defence and outside shooting.
Should Milwaukee’s front staff choose to trade him, there might be a lucrative deal just waiting to be struck. An article written by Dalton Sell for Behind The Buck Pass describes the potential outcomes of this trade.
The Bucks may lose one of their top guards and perimeter defenders when Patrick Beverley tests free agency. Dosunmu may take up Beverley’s position right away, either starting with Damian Lillard at shooting guard or coming off the bench to anchor the second unit. Beverley, who is 35, would assist the Milwaukee Bucks get younger players at the position as well.
This past season, Dosunmu hit a career-best 40.3 percent from beyond the arc, demonstrating even more how well suited he would be. Alongside Khris Middleton, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Lillard, he would regularly get to tee off from a long distance with impressive looks. In that period, he averaged 12.2 points, so it wouldn’t hurt to have him offer a good complementing scoring lift.
Dosunmu fills in a lot of gaps in Milwaukee’s rotation and offers a lot of advantages. The core of Lillard and Antetokounmpo can concentrate more on scoring baskets on the offensive end of the game with him in the lineup.
