Almost all of Nami’s outfits are unique and help bring her character to life in One Piece, but a few stand apart from the rest.

Nami from One PieceThe Straw Hat Pirates constantly travel to new locations in One Piece. While visiting these different areas, they often sport new outfits that represent the overall tone of their respective arcs. Although characters like Monkey D. Luffy and Roronoa Zoro often receive the most fanfare regarding their costume changes, another member of the Straw Hats has enjoyed more outfit swaps than any of their peers — Nami the navigator.

Since the early days of One Piece, the orange-haired navigator has cycled through clothes on a regular basis, leaving her with an extensive list of high-quality outfits to sort through. Almost all of them help bring her character to life, but in particular, a few stand apart from their peers. After all, Nami tends to go clothes shopping every time the Straw Hat crew arrives at a new island, and it has paid off with a delightful wardrobe that keeps Nami looking fresh.

15Nami’s Return To Sabaody Outfit Is Simple But Charming

The One Piece anime launched a time skip after the Summit War saga, with the Straw Hats reuniting at the Sabaody Archipelago after some time part. Some of them returned with all-new outfits and features, such as Franky’s customizable hair and enhanced cyborg body. Nami, being the fashion-conscious lady she is, returned with another new outfit to dazzle One Piece fans.

Prior to the time skip, the former cat burglar always sported a short-haired look that leaned into her youthful appearance. Upon returning to Sabaody, she dazzled with her grown-out locks, which were complemented by a green top and low-riding jeans that emphasized her adult physique. It’s a rather basic look that ranks low among Nami’s best outfits, but fans still like it, and it has a simple charm to it, too.

14Nami’s Sabaody Archipelago Outfit Features a Flowered Shirt

Nami consults her Log Pose during One Piece's Sabaody arc.
Although the Grand Line is full of surreal locations, few are as visually dazzling as Sabaody Archipelago. The final island of Paradise (the first half of the Grand Line) is brimming with massive mangrove trees and beautiful bubbles, making it the perfect setting for one of Nami’s prettiest outfits.

Compared to much of Nami’s wardrobe, the orange, flower-patterned shirt she dons during the Sabaody Archipelago arc is fairly understated. However, it’s a perfect fit for the dreamy tone of the island, and since the arc is Nami’s last before One Piece‘s timeskip, her outfit serves well as a proper send-off into the New World.

13Nami’s Punk Hazard Outfit Is Warm and Classy

Usopp and Nami don their new outfits during One Piece's Punk Hazard ArcNami hasn’t eaten any Devil Fruit, but if she did, she should consider the best fruits for her skills—such as the Op-Op Fruit or the More-More Fruit.

No single island in the One Piece universe features a more diverse climate than Punk Hazard. A massive battle between the Marines’ strongest Admirals, Akainu and Aokiji, split the island into two polar opposite climates, and as a result, it is the perfect location for Nami to show off the range of her wardrobe.

While the Straw Hat Pirates are exploring the frozen half of Punk Hazard, Nami temporarily sports a full-length black coat and pink gloves that are perfectly suited to the occasion. Frigid environments are fairly rare in One Piece, so this cozy outfit added some much-needed depth to her winter collection.

12Nami’s Skypiea Outfit Is Iconic For a Sky Island Adventure

Her hair is notably different while on the mythical island, as it is tied into pigtails rather than her typical bob-cut style.

In addition to this, Nami also sports a fun top emblazoned with a cloudy design that parallels the setting of Skypiea. This wardrobe’s atypical design and synergy with its arc make the outfit one of Nami’s best. It’s still one of Nami’s mos basic outfits and doesn’t compare to her wardrobe’s best offerings, but the cloud pattern does help remind fans of Mr. Oda’s remarkable attention to detail.

11Nami’s Water 7 Outfit Gives Her a Business Look

Nami smiles while throwing money into the airNami’s costumes tend to accentuate her figure, especially after the series’ two-year time skip. However, author Eiichiro Oda switched things up for the events of the Water 7 arc, introducing an unorthodox outfit for the character that did a great job of subverting audience expectations.

Nami’s blue button-up shirt and tie are, at least for Nami, uncommonly masculine articles of clothing — her high-hemmed skirt is, on the other hand, a much more traditional look for her character. Compared to the other Straw Hats, this is easily the best outfit seen throughout the entire arc. Her outfit in Water 7 gave her a business look, which suited the Straw Hats’ dealings with the Galley-La company to buy a new ship.

10Nami’s Arlong Park Outfit Revealed Her Tattoo

Every time that a character joins the Straw Hat Pirates, it marks a huge moment of significance for One Piece. Despite being the first Straw Hat pirate shown on screen, Nami doesn’t officially join Luffy’s crew until their time together during the Arlong Park arc. Here, fans are shown Nami’s background, placing the narrative spotlight on her throughout the arc.

Given Nami’s relevance to the arc, it was crucial that the crew’s navigator be dressed in a costume worthy of Arlong Park’s significance. Thankfully, One Piece succeeds in this regard, outfitting Nami with a cute green top that elicits a warm connection between the arc and the events of her childhood. Also, Nami’s outfit had no sleeves, revealing her Arlong tattoo for the first time. That’s a cool theme, though Nami’s Arlong Park-era outfit is still rather basic, so it doesn’t rank that high among Nami’s best outfits in One Piece.

9Nami’s Post-War Outfit Hinted at Her True Feelings at the Time

Nami in "moody" shirt during One Piece's Post-War arc.Given the extensive history Nami has with her captain, it only makes sense that she has proven her status as Luffy’s best crewmate in One Piece.

Although the Straw Hat Pirates rarely suffer from any significant in-fighting, there is no denying that their navigator, Nami, occasionally sports a pouty disposition. Her affinity for material possessions has caused her countless heartaches thanks to her crewmates’ destructive behavior — a trend comically alluded to in the outfit she wears during One Piece‘s Post-War arc.

When Nami is teleported away from Sabaody Archipelago, she arrives at an artificial island full of researchers that study the weather. There, she wears a blue top that simply reads “moody,” immediately setting the tone for her stay on the island over the next two years.

8Nami’s Raid Suit is Vivid and Matches Her Hair

The Straw Hat Pirates donning Raid Suits in the One Piece manga. The Vinsmoke family is a major part of the One Piece narrative thanks to their relationship with the Straw Hat Pirates’ cook, Sanji. However, an underrated part of their impact on the series stems from their introduction of Raid Suits, the stylized super-suits worn by the royal family of Germa Kingdom.

In Chapter 872 of the One Piece manga, author Eiichiro Oda penned a special cover spread featuring all the Straw Hat Pirates in their own version of Germa’s Raid Suits. Nami’s orange version of the costume is especially on-point compared to her peers, and accordingly, she is prominently featured in the middle of the image. It even matches her vivid orange hair.

7Nami’s Wano Country Outfits Add Some Japanese Flair

Accordingly, each of the Straw Hat Pirates received new outfits in order to blend in with the island’s residents.

While all these costume changes were well-received, Nami’s is a particularly great addition to the show. The Straw Hat navigator’s baby blue kimono and orange sash clearly allude to traditional Japanese culture — something that can’t be said about the vast majority of One Piece‘s aesthetics. She also wore a few similar outfits in that arc, including an equally charming and Japanese-inspired red outfit, with vivid colors to match her energetic personality.

6Nami’s Whole Cake Island Outfit Features a Classy Backless Dress

Chopper and Nami laying down during the Whole Cake Island arc in One Piece. While One Piece depicts various atmospheres and cultures, the Straw Hat crew rarely gets thrown into an environment that requires them to don formal attire. Thankfully, the wedding that occurs during the Whole Cake Island arc provides the perfect setting for Nami and her friends to put on their most expensive clothes and accessories.

Given Nami’s affinity for high fashion, it should come as no surprise that her outfit is arguably the best shown throughout the entire sequence. Her backless turtleneck dress and tied-up hairstyle easily outclass the majority of the other wedding-goers.

5Nami’s Enies Lobby Outfit Has a Cool Jean Jacket and Skirt Combo

Nami wielding the Clima-Tact during One Piece's Enies Lobby arc.Nami the Navigator has been a Straw Hat Pirate since the beginning of One Piece. She’s been charming fans with her clever intelligence ever since.

Fans regard the Enies Lobby arc as one of One Piece‘s best for many reasons. Yet, an aspect of the narrative that often goes underappreciated is its excellent use of costuming. The Straw Hat Pirates’ defiance of the World Government is well-represented through rebellious outfits like the jean jacket-short skirt combo worn by Nami during most of the arc.

Generally, Nami’s outfits opt for beauty rather than intimidation. However, in the case of Enies Lobby, the skilled navigator looks more like a pirate than ever, perfectly complementing her newfound stance against the World Government. Thus, this ranks among the best Nami outfits, with just four outfits being even more stylish and memorable in Nami’s expansive wardrobe.

4Nami’s Raid On Onigashima Outfit Gives Her a Wonderful Devilish Look

Nami's initial outfit for the Onigashima raid in One Piece.Taking down any of the mighty Four Emperors and their crews is one of the most difficult tasks in the entire world of One Piece — a fact the Straw Hat Pirates were forced to acknowledge during their fight against Kaido, Wano’s resident Yonko. In an attempt to infiltrate the Beast Pirates’ ranks, Nami and her crewmates dressed up in the rival crew’s attire, resulting in a fantastic change of pace for the show’s visual presentation.

Nami’s outfit fits her character surprisingly well, combining her trademark flair with a bit of edginess that alludes to her increasing level of power. Purple boas, armored shoulder pads, and devil horns rarely make for a good combination, but against all odds, the orange-haired Straw Hat pulls it off.

3Nami’s The National Treasure Of Zou Outfit is an Elegant Violet Dress

Nami donning her purple dress during the Zou arc in One Piece. The island of Zou is a peculiar one, even as far as One Piece goes. It’s located on the back of a giant elephant named Zunesha that wanders the seas, possesses a strange populace with outdated customs, and regards artifacts like the purple dress that Nami wears to be of the utmost importance.

If appearances were all that the aforementioned dress was judged on, then it would make sense for the article of clothing to be so significant to the residents of Zou. Its lace design and accompanying pearls are as visually stunning as any seen post-time skip, showing off Nami’s elegant beauty as an iconic Straw Hat crewmate. It’s also a reminder that Nami’s wardrobe is a smart mix of classy, dinner party-worthy gowns and practical outfits for any adventure.

2Nami’s Pre-Time Skip Outfit Is Simple Yet Iconic

Nami looking at a map during the Orange Town arc in One Piece.Nami isn’t the strongest fighter among the Straw Hat Pirates, but she has been managing to get by with the help of her trusty weapon.

Regardless of how many costumes each One Piece character wears, they are heavily associated with what they wear during their first on-screen appearance. As evidenced by Nami’s classic white-and-blue shirt and yellow skirtback in the East Blue saga, Eiichiro Oda is excellent at carefully curating these outfits to match the characters’ personalities.

Nami still works as a youthful cat burglar when fans first see her in this outfit. However, these clothes remain a recurring part of her visual design throughout the pre-time skip events of the series, providing the perfect connection between her past and her life as part of the Straw Hat Pirates.

1Nami’s Alabasta Outfit is Exotic and Delightful

However, even keeping this in mind, the Alabasta arc is arguably the highest point in the entire series. Every scene, plot point, character, and outfit is perfectly curated, including one of the best outfits in shonen history — Nami’s beautiful desert dress.

The Alabasta Kingdom clearly draws influence from Egyptian culture, and this is reflected in Nami’s wardrobe for the second half of the arc. Its belly-dancer charm and Alabastian accessories help establish Nami’s ever-growing connection to the homeland of her friend, Princess Nefeltari Vivi, who almost joined the Straw Hats. Nami’s outfit matched the story’s theme while also expressing her own flamboyant identity. That heartwarming theme of Nami’s Alabasta outfit makes it #1 among the best Nami outfits. It’s more than threads — it’s a gesture of true friendship among heroic women.
