Angel Reese says people “praying for her” is the best thing somebody can do for her (Getty)
Chicago Sky star Angel Reese has been very popular among women’s basketball fans since her college days. Despite admitting that she receives negative comments for some of her actions, Reese reckons that a lot of people support her.
The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year candidate took to social media to explain how much it means for her when people tell her they’re praying for her.
“The best thing somebody can ever do/say to me is that they prayed or they’ve been praying for me!” Reese wrote on X.

Even though the Sky has struggled to win games consistently, Angel Reese has shown glimpses of what she is capable of. The No. 7 overall pick in this year’s WNBA draft has embraced the challenge of being a rookie in this league and doesn’t back down when things get hard.
Two-time WNBA champion A’ja Wilson praised Reese for her game, and even credited her for helping her team get better on defense.
“I feel like we got some growth that we can learn when it comes to guarding her and defending her, but obviously, she held her own,” Wilson said after the Aces beat the Sky on Thursday. [5:49 mark]
The impact Reese is making in the early stages of her career is notable and she is only getting started.
Teresa Weatherspoon hypes up Angel Reese after Aces game
Just like A’ja Wilson, Chicago Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon showered Angel Reese with praise. The former Pelicans coach highlighted that the rookie played smartly against Wilson, who is arguably the best player in the entire WNBA.
“She’s [Reese] fine. She’s played against some incredibly talented post players in this league, veterans who understand the game really well, are savvy, super smart, super intelligent.”
“She’s about the challenge, and it’s only going to make her better. She’s willing to guard the best post player she possibly can. It will make her much better down the stretch.”
Reese has played 16 games this season, averaging 13.5 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.6 steals per game. She shoots 40.9% from the field and 76.4% from the free-throw line.
The Sky is just starting a new era with Angel Reese leading the way, but the young star is expected to make a huge impact on her team.
