LeBron James and Leon Marchand
NBA (DR) / France TV (DR)

As Team USA destroyed Brazil on Tuesday night to reach the semifinals, LeBron James was greeted by the crowd as he joined his bench. At least that’s what he thought, before Léon Marchand joined the party.

As calm as Team USA. Steve Kerr’s men were serious and diligent this Tuesday evening in order to validate their ticket for the semi-finals against Brazil.

The score? 122-87 for LeBron James and his partners, who were never in difficulty in this game.

Devin Booker, author of 18 points, finished as the best scorer of the match ahead of Anthony Edwards (17 points).

The confusing situation between LeBron and Leon Marchand

LeBron concludes his performance with 12 points, 9 assists, 3 rebounds and 3 blocks: a big game for the King, who is clearly on a mission in Paris for these final stages.

He is the first to be satisfied with his performance, to the point where he was cheered by the fans when he joined his bench… or so he thought.

As Dwyane Wade (as commentator) explains, the crowd was actually greeting Léon Marchand.

“The crowd started cheering and LeBron thought it was for him, but it was for the gold medal-winning French swimmer Leon Marchand in the audience.”

As you can see in the video, Marchand was there and he was shown on the giant screen, which explains the crowd’s reaction. James clearly didn’t understand, which led to some mockery on social media. Rest assured: French fans also really like the King.

He always thinks he’s the main character at all times.

Yeah sorry LeBron for once you weren’t the center of attention😭

When Leon Marchand comes, we can be sure that the French public will be there to celebrate his presence, especially after his 4 gold medals. Sorry for LeBron James, even if he already receives a lot of love since his arrival in France.
