Even though the focus is on the Olympics right now, Lakers management continues to work to strengthen the roster. However, they have reportedly seen an offer turned down to trade one of their stars to another franchise.

The NBA season that has just passed has not gone as planned for the Lakers.

The Californian management therefore has an entire summer to give new health to their roster.

For the moment, the biggest change has been on the team’s bench with the arrival of JJ Redick to replace Darvin Ham.

But the coaching position is not the only one to have been a topic of discussion throughout the year.

For many months, the Purple & Gold have been looking for a new point guard or shooting guard.

At the same time, D’Angelo Russell has been the subject of transfer rumors.

Even today, the 28-year-old player is under threat of leaving. But while his franchise would seek to part ways with him, according to Jovan Buha in the Buha’s Block podcast , a rival team would have refused the offer.

Lakers’ offer rejected by another franchise

I heard Portland doesn’t want D’Angelo Russell because they have a million guards anyway. So it doesn’t make sense for them. So if you put D-Lo out there, and of course the Lakers would rather keep D-Lo out there in that setup – I think that would make more sense.

This proposal is also to be studied from several angles for both teams.

From a financial perspective, next season Russell will make just over $18 million and his contract will expire.

Grant, for his part, has a contract through 2027 with a player option that could allow him to extend his contract through 2028.

The following year, he will make close to $30 million and his salary will increase over time.

Another question would also arise at the sports level for both franchises.

Indeed, the two profiles are very different, the Blazers winger possessing qualities that are more focused on his athletic aspect.

As for the Lakers leader, he is known for his more offensive abilities, although he is sometimes irregular. But apparently, Portland has priorities that lie elsewhere.

D’Angelo Russell is currently considered unwanted by the Lakers. The management reportedly tried to part ways with him by including him in a trade for Jerami Grant, but the Blazers reportedly declined the offer.
