Amid her 15-game double-double streak, some have accused Reese of hunting stats to keep her run alive. Following their latest matchup, Coach Teresa Weatherspoon addressed this narrative:

Weatherspoon might say that Angel Reese only cares about winning games, but her recent actions suggest her streak is important to her. In the Chicago Sky’s last matchup, she made sure to break double digits in scoring.

On Wednesday night, the Sky took on the Atlanta Dream. In the final 10 seconds, Chicago found themselves with the ball up seven points. Typically, the winning team would just dribble the ball out. However, the Sky ended up passing the ball to Reese in the post.

Angel Reese managed to draw a foul with six seconds left. She went to the line and made both free throws, getting her up to 11 points for the game. Without this play, her double-double streak would have come to an end.

Due to moments like these, narratives have formed around Reese’s stat-padding to keep her run of double-doubles alive. Nonetheless, in her first year as a pro, Angel Reese is showing the potential to be productive on both ends of the floor.
