Now that Summer League is over, all eyes will be on Bronny James’ official regular season debut. But for Austin Reaves, who will be playing alongside him on the Lakers, this moment will be very special for LeBron James’ son.

Straight from the NCAA from the USC Trojans, Bronny James was selected by the Lakers as the 55th pick in the 2024 Draft.

But before making his official debut in the league, as tradition requires, it was in the Summer League that the young point guard had to prove himself.

And given his disappointing performances at university, he was inevitably expected to be a force to be reckoned with for this summer competition.

In total, LeBron James ‘ son has played four games. Like his college season, the Lakers rookie delivered two very complicated first performances on the offensive side.

That being said, his last two performances have been much more convincing, especially in scoring.

Enough to reassure his future teammates? Clearly, Austin Reaves doesn’t think things will be easy.

LeBron’s name, too heavy a weight for Bronny to bear?

Obviously, being the offspring of the King, Bronny couldn’t avoid being in the spotlight.

The new Californian will have to face immense pressure for his debut on the NBA courts . Many expect him to perform very quickly.

But if we are to believe what Austin Reaves said on the Jim And Base Show , it will be important to give the rookie some time to adapt.

I’m excited to play alongside him. He’s always going to get a bad rap for a lot of reasons.

He’s LeBron’s son, so people are going to expect him to be at the highest level. You just have to let the kid grow.

You have to let him be himself. You can’t expect gold from someone who’s used to playing bronze. It’s hard to live up to anyone in any sport.

So if there’s anything I can do to help him, you know, like I said earlier, I don’t know, if my dad was LeBron, I’d listen to Austin Reaves, but it’s super cool and I can’t wait to get to know him…

While the Lakers guard is eager to play alongside the young talent, he is nonetheless aware of the harsh gaze that others cast on his new teammate.

During the Summer League, Bronny averaged 8.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1 assist. When he was still playing in the NCAA, he averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 25 games. But on a team as competitive and ambitious as the Lakers, he will have to do much better than that to secure his spot, despite the heavy atmosphere that reigns because of his name.

With Bronny James just finishing his Summer League, Austin Reaves couldn’t help but bring up LeBron James when talking about the rookie. The Lakers guard, however, shows his support for the youngster, as he says he’s aware of the immense anticipation that his name alone arouses.
