Michael Bisping believes Jake Paul is making ‘tremendous mistake’ by fighting former UFC star before Mike Tyson

Michael Bisping has advised Jake Paul against fighting Mike Perry.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer was supposed to square off against Mike Tyson at the AT&T Arena in Texas on July 20 – but their clash has been postponed.

Tyson recently suffered an ‘ulcer flare-up’ and needed some extra time to prepare, so his fight with Paul was pushed back to November 15.

On Tuesday, it was confirmed he will take a stay-busy fight against Perry.

‘Platinum’ is a former UFC star, who shared the Octagon with Donald Cerrone, Geoff Neal, and Paul Felder before being released by Dana White in 2021.

Perry suffered a knockout loss in his lone boxing bout in 2015, but after leaving the UFC he transitioned to bare-knuckle and became a champion in a promotion part-owned by Conor McGregor.

The welterweight and middleweight fighter is 5-0 in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship after picking up high-profile wins over Luke Rockhold, Eddie Alvarez, and Michael ‘Venom’ Page.

Bisping believes the influencer is silly to take on Perry before Tyson.

“Jake Paul is rolling the dice here,” Bisping said on his YouTube channel.

“Mike Perry is a savage and he’s got good technique.

“When you look at the boxing of Jake Paul, even though he was going up against Mike Tyson, there was a danger that he would get knocked out because he loops his shots, he’s not technical, he’s not sharp.

“He thinks Mike Perry is easy work, he’s a big name, he’s a big star. He thinks he is going to go out there and beat him, but he’s wrong.

“Mike Perry is a fighter. Mike Perry wasn’t necessarily the best Jui Jitsu artist or had the best wrestling, but there’s not a fight Mike Perry won’t take.

“He is the epitome of a real fighter. He’s an absolute star in the bare-knuckle organisation.”

“Jake Paul, I think he’s made a tremendous mistake here because [Perry] is a real fighter, he’s going to get in shape, he’s not afraid to mix it up and he’s going to go right at Jake Paul.”

Paul thinks Perry is the ‘perfect’ opponent to help him prepare for one of boxing’s biggest legends.

“When Paul vs. Tyson was rescheduled, I knew immediately that I wanted to still fight on Saturday, July 20,” he said in a press release.

“Now, as I prepare for my fight against ‘Iron Mike’, there’s no better opponent for me than Mike Perry. He’s a proven knockout artist who has shown to be a maniac in and out of the ring.

“This is the perfect experience for me to gain in advance of facing Mike Tyson. But getting that experience comes with risk.

“Those who know me know I’m a risk taker and while ‘Platinum’ Perry might try to end me, I’m Titanium Jake Paul and I fear no man.

“I’m going to get the W and give everyone a preview of what I’m bringing to the ring against Mike Tyson.

“Tune in on DAZN PPV as I return to Tampa and send ‘Platinum’ Perry the Platypus back to bare knuckle for good.”
