Mike Tyson’s fight with Jake Paul later this year caused concern for fans after it was sanctioned as a professional boxing match.
The 57-year-old heavyweight legend will face the YouTuber, 30 years his junior, in a huge crossover event in November.
The huge bout will now take place in November
It was originally planned to take place in July, however, the bout was postponed due to medical issues with Tyson.
But a new date has now been confirmed and the fight will go ahead as Paul faces Tyson only four years after starting his boxing career on the undercard of the icon’s clash with Roy Jones Jr in 2020.
That draw with Jones Jr. is the only time ‘Iron Mike’ has laced up his gloves since retiring as a professional in 2005.
‘The Problem Child’ has since gone 9-1 inside the squared circle having knocked out Ryan Bourland inside the first round late time out.
Paul vs Tyson: Fight rules
The bout will be classified as a sanctioned, professional fight by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations.
The fight will be contested at Tyson’s former heavyweight class – despite Paul beating Bourland at cruiserweight in March.
It will be fought over eight two-minute rounds.
Both Paul and Tyson will sport 14-ounce gloves, rather than the 10oz normally used.
As it is a sanctioned fight, each fighter can knock down or knock out their opponent while no headgear will be worn.
The result will also affect their professional boxing records.
The 30-year age difference is concerning fans ahead of the fight
But the fight will be going ahead at a rearranged date
Paul vs Tyson: How to follow
This clash will now take place on Friday, November 15 and will be held at the 80,000-capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Start times are yet to be confirmed but are expected to take place around in the early hours of Sunday morning for UK fans.
This event will be streamed on Netflix, which will be their first venture into live combat sports.
The fight will be available to all Netflix subscribers, meaning an estimated 16.3 million UK households can watch the action for no extra cost.
You can sign up for Netflix here for an initial £6.99 per month.
talkSPORT will also be across the event, with coverage in the build-up to fight week on-air and on talkSPORT.com.
