Alex Pereira’s vision and ‘fear factor’ has seen him compared to Terence Crawford and Mike Tyson.

Pereira scored a simply breathtaking KO in his rematch with Jiri Prochazka at UFC 303, landing a thumping head kick which dropped his rival to the canvas.

The Brazilian has a unique skillset and freakish size, which has seen him draw comparisons to many greats in combat sports.

Boxing trainer Teddy Atlas believes he has the vision of current pound-for-pound star Crawford, and as a result has developed the intimidating presence of heavyweight legend Tyson.

He said: “He’s got radar. He’s got x-ray vision. He sees things other people don’t see.

“Terence Crawford in boxing is that kind of guy. When you see things and you’re that calm, and you’re in that calm kind of environment, all you can be in, you see things and react just a little bit [faster].

“They call it timing, but he has special timing because he’s that calm and he’s got those kinds of eyes.

“Also when you get these kinds of results behind it [the staredown]. When a guy can go into your soul, it’s like he’s looking right through.

“There was Sonny Liston, there was George Foreman, there was somebody named Mike Tyson — it worked for them.

“[Pereira’s opponents are] thinking, ‘How come he don’t feel like I feel like?’ That’s what they’re thinking!

“I feel my heart [pounding], I feel all this. He don’t feel it? So he’s not human?’

“That’s where you start to get into that crazy place. That boogeyman place. Right now [Alex Pereira] is the boogeyman.”

Tyson was one of the most feared punchers in boxing, with his ferocious and aggressive style seeing him develop a seemingly invincible demeanour during his time at the pinnacle of the sport.

He reigned as an undisputed champion at heavyweight during his prime, and records tumbled as his powerful style blasted opponents out of the water.

Crawford is forging his legacy as a highly-skilled talent in the squared circle, with his boxing IQ and elite timing having helped him rise to become a three-weight world champion.

Pereira has conquered the UFC in two weight classes, and has even teased a potential switch to heavyweight.

‘Poatan’ has been beaten by Israel Adesanya, but many others have tried and failed to halt his remarkable progress on the roster.

It is unclear what is next for the Brazilian, but UFC president White wants him to remain at 205lbs and clear out the division first.
