Angel Reese Doesn’t Trust the Media

Angel Reese is not happy with the way she has been covered thus far in her WNBA rookie season. The Chicago Sky star spoke with the Chicago Sun-Times and lamented her relationship with the press.

Reese told columnist Steve Greenberg that she believes the media twists her words, adding that she would not provide lengthy responses to questions

‘‘I can’t trust any of y’all. So I’m just letting you know — short and sweet.’’

Perhaps Angel was referencing the coverage of the ‘special whistle’ comments she made following the Sky’s loss to Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever Sunday.

Given the record ratings set by that contest Reese’s postgame quote became a staple of online coverage and debate show discussion.

Regardless of media relations, Reese has certainly made an impact on the league in her first year. Angel is averaging a double-double and is top three in the WNBA in rebounds. She has also turned heads off the court, not only through her stylish entrances, but with the custom sneakers she has been wearing on the floor.

Despite the strong start individually, the Sky have struggled of late dropping four games in a row before snapping the skid behind a breakout performance from Reese.

The team will hope to turn things around behind the front-court tandem of Angel and fellow rookie Kamilla Cardoso. Cardoso started the season injured but has seen her minutes steadily increase with the former South Carolina standout contributing 8.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

If the pair can be effective together, Reese may be able to answer any and all questions with her play on the floor.
