Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese among 12 players named to 2024 WNBA All-Star Game in Phoenix

Less than one month after playing in front of a massive crowd at Footprint Center, Caitlin Clark will return to Phoenix for the WNBA All-Star Game.

Clark was named with 11 other players for Team WNBA ahead of the game, July 20 at 5:30 p.m. The star-studded roster also features fellow rookie Angel Reese, which makes this the first time since 2014 that two rookies were named All-Stars.

Clark and Reese’s battles on the court have been documented for years dating to their college days at Iowa and LSU, respectively.

Reese and LSU won the national championship against Clark in 2023, while Clark eliminated Reese in the Elite Eight this season.

The No. 7 overall draft pick, Reese was June’s WNBA Rookie of the Month. With 10 points and 16 rebounds at Minnesota on Sunday, Reese set a WNBA single-season record for consecutive double-doubles with her 10th. She leads the WNBA in rebounding (11.4 rpg) this season.

Due to this being an Olympic year, the format will feature the U.S. 5-on-5 Olympic roster against the 12-player WNBA roster.

The U.S. Olympic team features Phoenix Mercury stars Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner and Kahleah Copper.

Footprint Center will host another massive crowd as the tickets for the event have been sold out for weeks.

When Clark faced the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday, 17,071 fans packed the arena for the second-highest attendance figure in franchise history.

It was also the eighth sellout of the Mercury’s early season.
