Reese praised Taurasi, arguably the greatest women’s basketball player in WNBA history. She believes the Mercury star is one of the GOATs and admires her career longevity.

She’s one of the GOAT’s of the game,” Reese said. “Being able to take some great things from her… Her mentality, her ability to be a vet, being able to keep [her] body up for this long. I obviously admire that. Hopefully I can play that long too.”

At 42 years old, Taurasi is the oldest player in the WNBA. Despite being on the tail end of her career, the Mercury guard is averaging 16.1 points and 4.8 rebounds through Phoenix’s 13-12 season.

Throughout her time in the league, Taurasi has earned numerous WNBA accolades, including three league championships, one MVP award and ten All-WNBA First Team appearances.

Reese has already made a name for herself as one of the most talented WNBA players on the glass. She’s No. 2 in the league in terms of average rebounds per game with 11.9, while recording a respectable 13.5 points per game average.

The rookie has yet to face the WNBA veteran, but the two will square off in Chicago’s first game back from the break on Aug. 15 at 8 p.m. ET.

For now, the two will focus on the WNBA All-Star game, which will tip off at 8:30 p.m. ET on July 20. Reese will represent Team WNBA, and Taurasi will compete for Team USA.

Reese mentioned that she was “excited to pick her brain” when speaking on Taurasi, which could be very helpful before the two face off in August.
