Mike Tyson has laid down the gauntlet for a rescheduled bout with Jake Paul, insisting it must happen between October and December.

The much-anticipated clash between the heavyweight legend Tyson and social media sensation-turned-boxer Paul was initially set to light up the Dallas Cowboys stadium in Texas this summer. However, the event has been postponed indefinitely after Tyson experienced an ulcer flare-up during a flight last week, rendering him medically unfit for the match.

Paul addressed the fight’s delay, expressing his disappointment: “Obviously, devastating news. I’m heartbroken, speechless, gutted. You [Tyson] said you wanna do this in Q4, I’m ready, you just need a little bit of time, so I’m ready whenever you are,” he stated.

He continued, highlighting the significance of the fight: “This is too big of an opportunity and I think this fight is going to change the world and I turn all my Ls into Ws and that’s a motto I live by. We’ve been working so hard over here in this camp. I just feel bad for everyone involved in this event, the undercard. The opportunity has been ripped from all of us.”

Due to his advancing years, Tyson will be required to undergo stringent medical examinations, including brain and heart scans, before he can step back into the ring. The former undisputed heavyweight champion was on the verge of celebrating his 58th birthday around the original date of the now-postponed fight.

Demonstrating sportsmanship, Paul added, “I do value Mike’s health first and foremost. I love that guy. I have so much respect for him, and I want Mike to be healthy.”

Despite being well past his prime, Tyson has faced a barrage of criticism for agreeing to a bout with Paul. The former heavyweight champion, who last fought professionally two decades ago against Kevin McBride, recently reassured fans after a health scare.

“My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s and I will be back to my full training schedule soon. Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end you will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good. I appreciate everyone’s patience and can’t wait to deliver an unforgettable performance,” Tyson declared.

The fight was originally scheduled for July 20th at AT&T Stadium, the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. A new date for the bout will be announced on June 7, keeping the Netflix livestreaming event intact.
