The dancer’s previous partner on the show, Amanda Abbington, 52, quit Strictly early last year citing medical reasons. She later went on to claim she suffered with post traumatic stress disorder following her time on the programme and reportedly told pals she felt Giovanni, 33, was “abrasive” with her while training.

Reportedly, the Italian is facing legal action from three other former Strictly partners following “abusive behaviour” allegations, while BBC bosses are said to have launched an internal investigation – prompting Giovanni to issue a statement on Instagram.

Refuting any suggestion of “abusive or threatening behaviour”, he wrote: “To my dear fans, you will be as surprised as I am that allegations have been made about my dance teaching methods in the media this week. Of course, I reject any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour, and I look forward to clearing my name.

“Those who have followed my journey on Strictly Come Dancing over the last decade will know that I am passionate and competitive. No-one is more ambitious for my dance partners than me. I have always striven to help them be the very best dancers they can be. This has always come from a place of love and wanting to win – for me and my dance partners. Thank you all once again for your continued love and support! Giovanni.”

After quitting the show last year, it was reported Amanda demanded to see behind-the-scenes footage of her time training with Giovanni. Now, a BBC investigation has reportedly been launched regarding the Sicilian-born star after three of his former partners are said to have instructed lawyers. The corporation is said to be “evidence gathering”, while there are claims “at least one or two more celebrities” have been in contact with lawyers.

It’s reported the unnamed celebrity women, who have all danced with Giovanni, could join three existing claimants already taking action. “Three women that we know of have come forward, and taken things a step further with legal action,” a source told The Sun. “But Carter Ruck, the prestigious firm acting on behalf of these stars, have quietly been speaking to one or two other potential claimants. In other words, more names could come out of the woodwork.”

Giovanni is also facing rumours he has quit the dance competition after nine years on the show. It comes after a leaked internal memo failed to feature his name among this year’s roster of professional dancers. . The BBC star is one of the show’s most recognisable faces and is best pals with Strictly judge, Anton du Beke. However, the dancer is said to have called time on his star-studded stint, leaving his legion of loyal fans heartbroken.
