Indiana Fever’s prized rookie Caitlin Clark had her best game of the season over the Washington Mystics on Friday. WNBA fans celebrated her stellar performance on social media just as some took shots at her fellow league freshman, Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky.

The top overall rookie pick in this year’s WNBA draft out of the University of Iowa, Clark played 39 minutes against the hosts, Mystics and posted solid all-around numbers in helping her team score an 85-83 victory.

The 22-year-old guard had 30 points, on an efficient 8-of-15 clip from the field and 7-of-13 from deep, to go along with eight rebounds, six assists and four steals. She, however, committed eight turnovers.

Fans took note of her stellar play, with some taking digs at her fellow rookie Reese along the way, fueling further their already-intense rivalry. Some of the comments moved to compare the two players’ performances against the Mystics.

One fan highlighted the dismal shooting clip of Reese in the Sky’s victory over Washington previously:

“Angel Reese shot 29% from the field on all layups against the same team yesterday.”

Another who had a similar sentiment, wrote:

“Angel Reese ain’t putting up these numbers lol”

Another X user, for his part, gave a summary of what Reese could be feeling after Caitlin Clark’s game, saying:

Reese and the Sky played the Mystics on Thursday and won, 79-71, with the rookie posting a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds but shooting 5-of-17 from the field.

Caitlin Clark talks about the WNBA journey so far

Top overall rookie pick Caitlin Clark has created quite a stir with her game early in her WNBA journey. The run has not been perfect, to say the least, but she is enjoying and basking in it.

Twelve games into her season, the former Iowa standout has been pacing the Indiana Fever in scoring and assists with 16.8 points and 6.3 assists per contest while tallying 5.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals.

They are still looking for that consistency in winning, but she has expressed her commitment to working with her team towards achieving it.

Speaking by way of USA Today, Caitlin Clark shared how the journey has been for her so far in the pros, saying:

“I feel like I’ve played some good games. I feel I’ve played some games where it’s like, ‘Hmm’, I think that’s just the learning curve. That’s just the adjustment period.”

Adding:

“I think, overall, I think I’ve done some really good things. I think there’s always areas to improve.”

The Fever played the Mystics on the road on Friday and won, 85-83, with Caitlin Clark finishing with all-around numbers of 30 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals.

They will next play on Monday against the Connecticut Sun.
