After spending 12 seasons in the NBA, Damian Lillard has established himself as one of the league’s most clutch performers. The Milwaukee Bucks star has made eight All-Star appearances and been named to seven All-NBA teams throughout his career.
Lillard regards himself as one of the best shooters. But he feels that his contributions have often gone underappreciated. During a recent appearance on the Club520 Podcast, Lillard opened up about his frustrations with the lack of recognition he receives compared to other great players in the league.
“They don’t talk about it… Take harder shots; it’s more contested. People guarding you harder. It’s different, bro. They definitely don’t talk about it. They act like I don’t be doing what I have been doing,” Lillard said.
“I think people just get bored with consistency. And I ain’t loud. But sh*t, I’ve been doing it that long and winning. It’s not like I’ve been doing it and I’m just playing for a team that doesn’t make the playoffs. The season before last, I averaged almost 33 a game… I’ve been over 25 for damn near 8-9 years,” he added.
Damian Lillard Focuses on Comeback Season After Disappointing Playoff Exit with Bucks
In 2023, Damian Lillard made a high-profile move to the Milwaukee Bucks after requesting a trade. However, despite his arrival, the Bucks’ championship hopes were dashed with a surprising first-round playoff exit.
As Lillard looks ahead to the upcoming season, he’s determined to prove that he still has plenty left in the tank. In a recent interview with Jim Owczarski of the “Milwaukee Journal Sentinel,” Lillard spoke candidly about his mindset.
“I’m not a player that’s breaking down. I live a clean, good, healthy life, so I can do it, I can do the same things I did two, three years ago. I can do it right now,” Lillard said.
During his first stint with the Bucks, Lillard played in 73 regular-season games. He averaged 24.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, and seven assists while shooting 42.4% from the field.
