Ryan Reynolds is taken aback by Disney’s decision to give his movie Deadpool and Wolverine a “hard R.”

The 47-year-old actor is’surprised’ that the company granted movie executives the creative content for an adult plot starring Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. The celebrity will reprise his role as the wise-cracking superhero in the eagerly anticipated blockbuster this summer.

‘I’m incredibly proud of them for doing this,’ Ryan said to Fandango. It’s a big step for them, in my opinion.

“It gives this kaleidoscopic wheel of that company and the various people they have been entertaining for ages a whole new hue.”

“I felt like that was the most full-throated version of Wolverine and Logan that we’ve ever seen as well,” Ryan added, “for this character and this world, and particularly Logan being an R-rated film as well. So it really allowed us a lot of freedom, not exploiting the R rating just to do R-rated stuff, but really allowing us to do anything and everything in a world where anything and everything is possible.”

The July release of the superhero movie is being directed by Shawn Levy, who has assured fans that it would be a “two-hander character adventure” rather than just Deadpool 3.

Deadpool and Wolverine released a new poster on Monday morning, revealing that the film will be available “only in theaters” on July 26 in the US and July 25 in the UK.

The well-known superheroes played by Hugh Jackman and Reynolds are positioned opposite one another.

Jackman plays Wolverine, who has his claws out, and Reynolds plays Deadpool, who is gripping a guղ.

“Wolverine is recovering from his injuries when he crosses paths with the loudmouth, Deadpool,” according to the plot summary for Shawn Levy’s picture. They cooperate to combat a shared foe.
