Stern Show staffer Richard Christy returned to the heartland recently to hang out with a handful of other famous Kansas City natives at Big Slick, a star-studded charity event boasting big names from comedians Heidi Gardner and Rob Riggle to actors Paul Rudd and Eric Stonestreet as well as star Kansas City Chiefs players Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, to name a few.

“It’s a charity for the Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City — it’s great,” Richard told listeners on Monday morning. “They raised almost four million dollars this year.”

The heavy-metal drummer and prank call aficionado told Howard he gets invited every year by Stonestreet. “I don’t consider myself a celebrity, but I’m part of [the event],” Richard said. “I’ve played drums there before, and it helps that I’m from around the Kansas City area. I guess for Southeast Kansas I’m kind of a celebrity.”

Howard and co-host Robin Quivers questioned whether Richard was famous enough to warrant an invite, but the staffer told them he was actually a big hit with several Stern Show fans in attendance, including “Good Morning Football” host Peter Schrager and “Hot Ones” host Sean Evans. “There are some people who get excited to see me, believe it or not,” Christy laughed.

Richard enjoyed all Big Slick had to offer, from the barbecue to the sketch comedy performances, but the lifelong Chiefs fan seemed most excited to spend quality time with Kelce, who in addition to being an All-Pro tight end happens to be Taylor Swift’s boyfriend. “He’s the nicest, sweetest, most down to earth guy,” Christy said of Kelce, adding, “He remembers me [and] gives me a big hug when he sees me, which is mind-blowing.”

“Wow, look at you palling around,” Howard marveled.

“[Richard’s] a big ticket in Kansas City,” Robin agreed.

Matt Friend’s Howard Stern impression has already driven Howard crazy. Now, a Dial-a-Trade host is sharing the same sentiment. On Monday, the Stern Show debuted a new phony phone call where the comedian sees how many times — as Howard — he can squeeze the word “right” into the conversation.

“Right, this is Howard.  I’m selling equipment you can use to write, right? Right, right,” Matt said to the host before eventually uttering the magic word a total of 37 times. “I’m selling a case of Diet Rite, right.”

“He needs some help,” the radio show host said at one point before hanging up. “Try to take your medication as prescribed.”

After a barrage of quick calls from Matt in character, the host had enough. “Just so our listeners know, we know who that is,” he threatened. “It’s called ‘Unknown’ or ‘Blocked’ — which usually means ‘moron.’”
