Surprise!

The day has come and how sweet it is…if you’re a huge fan of rock heartthrob Jon Bon Jovi, that is. The 55-year-old Bon Jovi frontman took to social media with an announcement that sent fans scrambling for their phones, computers and iPads: after years of holding off from the social media craze, Jon Bon Jovi is officially on social media with his own official Instagram and Twitter accounts, separate from those of the band itself.

The news came via Bon Jovi’s official Facebook account, a single photo of fans screaming and taking photos of Jon with the words “You can finally tag me in those pictures. Now for a clever hashtag…#betterlatethannever” adorning the post, granting a long-held wish of fans around the world who love the official Bon Jovi band social media accounts, but desperately wanted the chance to interact with Jon in particular. The news sent over 24,000 followers to Jon Bon Jovi’s brand new Instagram account, and another 14,500 followers to his Twitter account – and the day’s not even over!

Sure, it’s cool that fans get to see their favorite singer in their newsfeed every time they refresh their apps, but Jon Bon Jovi being on social media finally opens up another really cool possibility for fans who may never actually have the chance to attend a Bon Jovi show: the chance to engage with Jon personally through comments and re-tweets, a huge facet of the celebrity social media craze that makes the experience of opening up one’s life to the entire world slightly more worth it.
