Jayson Tatum converted a three-point shot with 48.2 seconds remaining in the third. The score at the time was 74-73 (Mavericks leading). The next time Boston scored wasn’t until 8:46 remaining in the fourth quarter, when Jrue Holiday converted another three. In that time, Dallas scored 15 unanswered points, taking an 89-76 lead. Although they still had time to come back, Boston’s offense wasn’t able to get more points on the board.

In terms of player performances, Kyrie Irving earns the game ball tonight. He dropped 32 points while earning six rebounds, six assists, and a steal. Although he turned over the ball three times, his offensive performance catapulted Dallas to a Game 1 victory. We’d be remiss not to mention Luka Doncic, who dropped 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists, nearly earning a triple double. Nevertheless, he was integral to the team’s victory.

As for the Celtics, Jayson Tatum was their only effective player on offense. He scored 29 points, earned 6 rebounds, 9 assists, and a steal during the game. However, only one other player on the team managed to score 10+ points, and that was Al Horford. Even with Kristaps Porzingis back on the court (and against his former team, the Celtics didn’t do enough as a group to win this one.

With the win, the Mavericks secure the first game of the NBA Finals. Winning is great, and winning on the road is even better. If they can beat Boston in Game 2, they can potentially end the series back home in Games 3 & 4. However, we don’t think it’ll be that easy for the Mavericks. But with players like Irving and Doncic, the team is primed to win their second Championship.

With the loss, the Celtics now trail, but at least only by one game. They have a chance to tie the series up at home in Game 2 before heading over to Dallas. The the team had a lead in the second quarter, so there’s no reason to think they can’t do it again. However, they’ll just need to find a way to fend off the Mavericks’ comeback attempts. We’ll see if the Celtics can tie the series back up in Game 2.

In terms of accuracy, we believe the scoreboard reflects a realistic NBA game score. And if you’ve been keeping up with our sims, we’re glad to see the Mavericks finally not dropping 130 points or more. We made some serious changes to the CPU Sliders to create more authentic scores. We didn’t want the NBA Finals simulations to have both teams dropping unrealistic point totals.

However, we still want to improve a few more aspects. Shot conversions seemed a tad too low, so we might need to make a slight adjustment. Regardess, we’ll continue to strive and create authentic-looking and fun simulations for you to enjoy.
