Kate Middleton’s touching four-word review of royal flypast uncovered by lip reader

Princess Kate made a return to the public eye on Saturday as she attended the King’s birthday parade – and now a lip reader has revealed a sweet exchange with husband William

The Princess of Wales returned to the public eye for the first time since announcing her cancer battle on Saturday to take part in the Trooping the Colour festivities.

She was met with an outpouring of love as she joined the Royal Family for the King’s official birthday, watching the military parade with her three children before a highly-anticipated appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

Kate stepped back from royal duties and public appearances after confirming her cancer diagnosis in March. But to the delight of fans, she announced her attendance at the Trooping 24 hours prior to the event. In a personal message, which was shared alongside a new photo taken by Matt Porteous, the royal said she has been making “great progress”.

“On the bad days you feel weak, tired, and you have to give in to your body resting” she said. “But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”

And she seemed in good spirits on the day, smiling brightly as she engaged with her family. One of the highlights of the event is the Red Arrows flypast, which the royals watch from the palace balcony. Kate was certainly impressed. According to a lip reader, William turned to his wife and remarked: “That was very good!” In response, Kate agreed: “Very good, very nice!”

According to reports, Kate felt it important to make her return at the Trooping the Colour because of her three young children, and father-in-law King Charles, who is also having cancer treatment.

“In order for the youngsters to be there and play a full role – riding in a carriage on The Mall, watching proceedings on Horse Guards and joining the family ‘balcony moment’ – Mummy needed to be there too to keep the ‘kiddies’ (as she calls her young brood) in check as Papa [ Prince William ] was on horseback,” the Daily Mail ‘s royal editor Rebecca English writes.

“For Kate, there was also a determination to support the father-in-law she has become increasingly close to over the years and with whom she now shares the unenviable bond of a serious health battle. ”

Kate is not expected to return to full-time royal duties until she has fully recovered. Royal sources said public duties would be measured with how she feels at any given time and would not include today’s Order of the Garter ceremony or any part of the Royal Ascot festival, which begins tomorrow.

Prior to her announcement that she would be at Trooping, royal sources confirmed the princess had personally spoken to the King and informed him of her wish to join him and the royal family for the parade. A spokesperson for the King said His Majesty was “delighted” by the news of her attendance.
