While the Chicago Sky didn’t secure a win against the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday night, rookie sensation Angel Reese secured some more stunning WNBA history.
The “Chi Barbie” tallied 18 points and 11 rebounds in the 95-83 loss.
This marks her ninth consecutive double-double, which ties Candace Parker for the most consecutive double-doubles in a single season in WNBA History.
Reese has already set the record for most consecutive double-doubles as a WNBA rookie, which she completed against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on Sunday.
But now Reese has secured an even more prestigious record, putting her in line with all-time WNBA great.
Reese’s 11.1 rebounds per game this season is second in the WNBA, with only former MVP A’ja Wilson having more (11.3).
But Reese does lead the league in offensive rebounds by a wide margin. Her 4.8 per game is 1.8 per game more than the player with the league’s second most offensive boards.
Reese will look to set the new WNBA record for consecutive double-doubles when the Sky face the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday.
