Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese had a simple yet powerful message to her critics after she made history on Sunday against the Minnesota Lynx.
While the Sky lost 70-62, Reese extended her double-double streak to 10 games.
he finished with 10 points and 16 rebounds, allowing her to break her tie with Candace Parker for the most consecutive double-doubles in a season.
After the game, Reese took to X (formerly Twitter) to share how she feels about the achievement. She shared the Bible verse “Isaiah 54:17” along with ESPN’s post of her accomplishment.
Here’s what the verse Isaiah 54:17 says, per Bible Gateway: “No weapon formed against you shall prosper. And every tongue which rises against you in judgment, you shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from me, says the Lord.”
Angel Reese certainly couldn’t have chosen a more perfect verse to use amid her incredible feat.
Before she was drafted, a lot of people doubted her skills and whether or not it would translate in the pros. Sure enough, she quickly erased all those concerns.

Reese didn’t let the negative narrative affect her. She put in the work and let her performance do the talking.
Now, she’s one of the best players in the WNBA and is well poised to contend for the Rookie of the Year award.
