After winning Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals Connor McDavid has gone viral for an interaction he had with the media who doubted the Oilers would win.

The Edmonton Oilers pulled off another impressive victory in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals. In large part, their success came due to another 4-point performance from superstar Connor McDavid.

After the game, Connor McDavid spoke to the media. During his remarks, he talked about how excited he was to have to take a flight back to Edmonton for Game 6.

I love playing in the playoffs. I love playing with this group. It’s been a fun ride, and we’re glad it’s going to go one more day. But that’s all we’ve earned here: Another day, another flight. We’ll be ready to go in Edmonton on Friday

After talking about his own feelings after winning the game he decided to poke fun at the media. He asked the media if they were excited for their flight and that he was winning just to make them fly across the country again.

You guys excited for your flight? I’m just making you guys fly, McDavid said in a clip that was caught by the ESPN social media team.

This apparently goes back to a running joke between Connor McDavid and Connor Brown.

Prior to Game 5 on Tuesday, McDavid and teammate Connor Brown shared the same mantra to the media: «Drag ‘em back to Alberta,» a reference to a potential Game 6 being played this Friday night in Edmonton.

Now Connor McDavid, Connor Brown, and the Edmonton Oilers have the opportunity to do exactly that as the series returns to Edmonton for Game 6. They could once again use this mantra as motivation to drag the media back out East for a definitive Game 7.
