The Philadelphia Flyers completed a trade at the 2024 NHL Draft.
NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman stepped on the stage to announce the first trade of the night at the Philadelphia Flyers’ 12th overall pick.
General manger Daniel Brière traded their pick to the Minnesota Wild for the 13th overall pick and a third round pick in 2025:
“#mnwild trade 13th overall and a 2025 third round pick to #Flyers for 12th overall
They couldn’t wait!”
It looks like the Wild had targeted the defenseman Zeev Buium, and thought the Philadelphia Flyers would get him. While they paid with a 3rd round pick, they made sure to get the player they wanted.
As for the Flyers, they ended up selecting Jett Luchanko with the 13th overall pick with the help of a special guest: the renowned announcer Michael Buffer.
“LET’S GET READY TO MAKE A DRAFT PICK!!!!! 🛎️
Legendary ring announcer Michael Buffer makes the #13th pick for the Flyers 🥊”
Both the Flyers and the Wild drafted great players. Many experts believed Buium would be selected earlier, and that Luchanko would be picked later than what unfolded, but once again, this year’s draft is full of surprises, and we can’t wait to see what will happen next.
More to come.
