The Daily Mail reported that on Tuesday (March 22, local time), Miley Cyrus’s private jet had to make an emergency landing after getting caught in a storm while traveling from Bogota, Colombia, to the Paraguayan capital, Asunción. Early on March 23, Miley Cyrus reassured her fans on Instagram that she and her team were safe following the dangerous incident.

“To my fans and everyone worried after hearing about my flight to Asunción. Our plane got caught in a major unexpected storm and was struck by lightning. My crew, band, friends, family, and everyone traveling with me are safe after an emergency landing. Unfortunately, we were unable to fly to Paraguay. I love you all,” the 30-year-old singer wrote.

Along with this message, Miley shared a video of the terrifying weather conditions during the flight and a photo showing the lightning strike mark on the plane.

On her personal page, Miley’s sister, Brandi Cyrus, also recounted the harrowing experience: “I’m going to try not to be dramatic, but we almost died.”

A friend on the flight, Val Pina, agreed with Brandi’s account. She added that they weren’t even sure where they had landed, only knowing it was about 200 miles (322 km) from their intended destination.

Miley’s private jet is a Gulfstream G450, which can accommodate 14 passengers and two crew members. The current price of a G450 ranges from $38 to $43 million, though it was previously priced between $14 and $35 million. Miley’s estimated net worth is $160 million.

Miley Cyrus is currently touring South America for her “Attention” tour. Just hours before the incident, Miley performed in Bogotá, Colombia. On March 19, she attended the Lollapalooza Argentina music festival held at the San Isidro racetrack (Argentina). She also performed at the Lollapalooza Chile 2022 event in Santiago (the capital of Chile).

Due to the lightning strike, Miley had to cancel her plans to visit a music festival in Asunción. Her next scheduled performance is at the Lollapalooza Brazil festival on March 26.
