“We Beat Ourselves That 1st Game”: Angel Reese Dismisses Loss vs Caitlin Clark, Prepares for Rematch With Indiana Fever
There is no match that is as anticipated in the WNBA regular season as the game between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. Fortunately for the fans, the two will clash against each other on Sunday at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. As expected, all eyes are on the game, and Reese recently made an appearance on a live news channel to shed some light on her thinking while going into the contest.
Reese was present during a section at CBS Sports when she was asked a flurry of questions regarding her WNBA debut, her rookie year, and her rematch against Clark. Out of these what caught the fancy of viewers was the clash against Clark.
Angel Reese speaks of her rematch against Caitlin Clark
Reese spoke about the last time the two were at loggerheads and talked about fixing her mistakes. She also admitted that it would be an extremely popular watch for fans. Furthermore, she also divulged her basketball routine.
“Then obviously Sunday, learning from our mistakes from the first game, I think we beat ourselves that 1st game so just going back and looking at film again and watching the things that we need to fix. I think it’s going to be a great game again… A lot of eyes are going to be on that game for sure, and just great for women’s basketball. Of course, I know we’re gonna continue to break records and viewership so that’s what’s most important,” Reese stated, via CBS Sports.

The last time Reese and Clark went ahead of each other was when the Fever won the game by a 71-70 margin on June 1. The match was extremely close and the two teams ran from coast to coast. Reese who played for almost 30 minutes smoked 8 points in the clash nabbed 13 rebounds and stayed at the forefront for her team.
As per Forbes, the game averaged a whopping 1.53 million viewers, thus attracting a lot of attention. While the Fever made 24% three-pointers, the Sky potted only 16.7% shots from beyond the arc. Another stat where the Sky trailed was in assists. The Fever made 19 assists as compared to the Sky’s 15. Therefore, Reese & Co. will be cautious not to make the same mistakes again. However, the match also got a lot of attention due to controversy.
Angel Reese reflects on the physicality of the game
Sky’s Chennedy Carter pushed Clark to the ground. This had a lot of netizens presenting their point of view on the issue. When Carter did that, Reese stood up from the bench to clap for her teammate. This further aggravated the matter as it looked like Reese was supporting her teammate for the increased physicality, something that Clark has shared as her weakness in W. Reese also spoke about the upcoming game and whether physicality would be a part of her plans.
“I’m sure…I mean we’re all super competitive out there. I mean all of us want to do whatever it takes to win. I mean we have so much great talent on both teams, so just being able to go out there and have so much fun and enjoy the game as much as we can. I’m super excited for my teammates. I’m excited for the other team as well and again like to continue to grow women’s basketball is what’s most important,” Reese remarked.
Hopefully, fans will once again see their favorite stars battling it out against each other and overall, the WNBA will continue to grow.
