If it wasn’t clear, the WNBA has got a huge star and she doesn’t play for the Indiana Fever.
Indeed, the Chicago Sky’s rookie as quite literally taken the league by storm, and if there was any doubt about her worth, her most recent achievement should lay that to rest.
Angel Reese is unreal
If you caught Thursday night’s game between the Chicago Sky and the reigning WNBA champions, the Las Vegas Sky, then you will know it wasn’t the best outing for the Sky as they lost 95-83. On the other hand, it was very much another showcase of just how good Angel Reese is.
The Sky’s rookie set a WNBA record and with that once again demonstrated that she’s in no way intimidated by the transition to the professional game.
Selected with the 7th overall pick in the WNBA Draft in April, the former LSU star ended the game with 18 points and 11 rebounds to register yet another double-double, something we previously reported has become quite a habit for the 22-year-old.
Only this time, Reese made history in that it was her ninth consecutive double-double, tying her with Candace Parker for most consecutive double-doubles in a season, while also making her the youngest player in league history to notch nine consecutive double-doubles.
It should be said that Thursday night’s performance was not her best during this historic stretch of games after she scored 25 points and pulled down 16 rebounds in last Sunday’s win over Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.
Speaking of Clark, the former Iowa State star made waves with a record of her own this week and continues to be the talk of the town, but it may be that it’s time for folks to take a look at what’s going on in the ‘Windy City.’
Nonetheless, for the doubters that remain when it comes to Reese, they can take a look on Sunday afternoon when the Sky take on the Minnesota Lynx at 3:00 p.m. ET. Don’t miss it.
