The Lakers thought they had found their new coach, but they are back to square one following Dan Hurley’s refusal.

A famous American journalist hit the nail on the head with a terrible clarification on the Purples and Golds…

For a few days, everyone thought that Dan Hurley was going to take over the reins at the Lakers following the dismissal of Darvin Ham.

Adrian Wojnarowski flatly affirmed that the tactician was the first choice of the Californians from the start…

But that will not be the case since despite an offer of 70 million dollars over eight years, the person concerned decided to return to the University of Connecticut . And it’s not surprising…

Indeed, Hurley has just completed the back-to-back with the Huskies in the NCAA where he is practically considered a demigod on the bench.

Suffice to say that his situation there seems much more attractive than that of the Lakers, an observation that Zach Lowe notably supported on the show Get Up .

The famous journalist did not spare the Angelino franchise with a rather shattering update on their perspectives:

Zach Lowe ruthless with the Lakers project

The position of coach at the Lakers is not such a fantastic job after all.

They are a Play-In team almost every year in a conference where everyone around them is improving every year, whether ahead of them or behind them.

Every year it’s a battle just to get out of the Play-In. LeBron will soon be 40 years old.

What is the vision for this team once he leaves?

Yes, Anthony Davis is good, they have Austin Reaves and other players, but they are not guaranteed a title window either.

No matter how many years are left on their contracts, all coaches get fired.

It’s easy to say that a superstar will arrive, and maybe that will be the case, but we are not that far from seeing the Lakers become a bad team for 5 or 6 years.

It’s difficult to deny the obvious: the future of the Lakers is quite vague.

No one knows how long LeBron James will still be active and beyond this timeframe, not sure that Los Angeles will be capable of playing the leading roles in the jungle of the West.

There is therefore serious cause for concern for fans of the franchise.

Right now, we can’t blame anyone for ignoring this.

Zach Lowe isn’t surprised by Dan Hurley’s refusal to coach the Lakers, given that the Purple and Gold don’t have much to offer him in the way of prospects. The question is who LA will be able to attract into its nets…
