Giovanni Pernice’s rumoured ex-girlfriend Tasha Ghouri has reportedly signed up for Strictly Come Dancing.

The Love Island beauty, who was born completely deaf and had a cochlear implant when she was five, has agreed to appear in the next series, it has been reported. Speculation over the 2024 line-up is swirling with show bosses keen to offer a distraction from the on-going abuse scandal.

EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick is reportedly being lined-up for another stint, with Coronation Street’s Gail Platt star Helen Worth and footie great Paul Merson also in the frame. Tasha is said to have jumped at the chance and believes by saying yes she can help raise awareness for people living with disabilities.

“Tasha has everything it takes to be a top drawer Strictly signing,” said a source. “Whilst fans who like a journey will be irked she is a professional dancer, others who enjoy watching incredible moments from the off will be more than satisfied.

“She’s also become a powerful force for good campaigning and raising awareness for those with disabilities. The Giovanni link is unfortunate to say the least, but above all else Tasha is a gorgeous girl who deserves this amazing opportunity,” the show insider told The Sun.

Tasha is confident about her deafness, which she calls her “superpower” and wants to raise more awareness for the deaf community. Tasha found a spark with Andrew Le Page in the 2022 series of Love Island, and even though they had a very rocky relationship, they came back together and placed fourth in the final.

The popular dance competition was thrown into chaos when Sherlock actor Amanda Abbington made allegations about Giovanni Pernice’s tough training techniques last year. In January, it was reported that the 51-year-old star requested footage of the duo’s ‘tense’ training sessions, leading to a misconduct investigation.

The model and activist was the first deaf contestant on Love Island and feared she “wasn’t representing” her community well enough. Tasha said the reaction she got on the show was “an 80 to 20 split, with 20% negative”. Mirror Online have contacted Tasha’s reps and Strictly for comment.

Talking about some of the abuse she suffered, she said: “At first I was a bit like, oh, a little bit of a dagger to the heart. But I think I’m a very positive person and had such good support around me. My family and friends, they’re the most important people to me.”

Names on bosses’ list are said to included Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham, Coronation Street star Shobna Gulati, Loose Women presenter Janet Street-Porter, Blue singer Duncan James and Tracy Beaker Returns star Kia Pegg.

Outnumbered star Tyger Drew-Honey, Sarah Millican, Doctor Who star Pearl Mackie, actor Sunil Patel, radio presenter Jordan, former professional footballer Jermaine Jenas and EastEnders star Shona McGarty are also said to be wanted by execs.
