Kelly Stafford is trying her best to stop the backlash coming her way on social media.

The wife of star NFL quarterback Matthew Stafford revealed this week that she once dated her husband’s college backup as a way to make him extremely jealous.

She did this after she thought that he only wanted a casual relationship, saying, “Long story short, it wasn’t that cute of a relationship at first. I hated him. I loved him. I dated the backup to piss him off, which worked,” she said on a recent episode of the Off the Vine podcast, hosted by Kaitlyn Bristowe.

Kelly even added that the backup quarterback, whom she did not mention by name, was a “bad boy,” and they lived in the same dorm together.

“He was the bad boy, too. Matthew is so sweet and Southern gentleman, and the backup was the complete opposite,” Kelly continued.

She added that her plan worked to perfection as Matt would come crawling back to her.

“They lived in the same dorm because athletes lived in the same dorm, and he would see my car there. So, at one point, he waited and followed me out to my car and got in my car and wouldn’t get out.

“He was like, ‘He’s not right for you.’ and I was like, ‘You can’t tell me that. Get the f*** out of my car.’ “Meanwhile, he’s dating like 12/10s, supermodels.”

Unfortunately for Kelly Stafford, social media has been ripping her apart, not only for what she did back then, but even coming out and revealing this story to begin with when nobody asked.

Kelly hasn’t addressed all the backlash, but she hasn’t been absent on social media. On Friday, she took to her Instagram story and posted a sweet video of the Rams quarterback lifting their daughter up so he could give her a hug. Her caption read, “Performance one complete.”

Backup Quarterback That Kelly Stafford Dated reportedly Identified

L.A. Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford’s wife, Kelly Stafford, has been getting blasted all week for stating she dated his former backup in a bid to make him jealous.

Kelly noted that his teammate—whom she described as a “bad boy” to the footballer’s “Southern gentleman”—lived in the same dorm as him.

Fans did some digging and found out that it was likely Joe Cox, who spent three years sitting behind Stafford when they played at Georgia.
