Britain’s Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas appeared on Monday’s This Morning to talk about winning the ITV talent show on Sunday night.

After being voted the public’s winner, Sydnie took home the incredible £250,000 cash prize and bagged a spot at the Royal Variety Performance later this year. However, her triumphant win was marred by ‘fix’ claims with fans pointing out the singer’s already accomplished past with movie roles, stage shows and a recording contract already on Sydnie’s CV.

Other viewers claimed it was ‘obvious’ Sydnie was plucked to win from the start, as she was handed a ‘ticket to the final’ and ‘to the top prize’ after being given the coveted final spot in the running order in the semi-final and Sunday’s live grand final.

Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: “Could have guessed Sydnie Christmas was going to be on last #bgt”, a different account put: “Obvs Sydnie Christmas is going to win #bgt as last on and will stick in people’s minds” while another added: “What a shock… Sydnie’s up last! #BGT.”

Appearing on Monday’s This Morning to talk about her win, Sydnie said her final slot actually made her more jittery to perform iconic ballad Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Sydnie said she became an emotional wreck watching her competition take to the stage before she finally got the call up.

Sydnie said: “Because I was last, I was like: ‘No, why am I last? I’ve got to sit through it!’ so I was pacing. I was watching it, I was clapping, I went in to watch Innocent [Masuku], absolutely amazing, made me sob, I had to get my make-up sorted out. I was like: ‘How am I going to go on now?’ it was so good, everyone was amazing.”

Elsewhere, Sydnie revealed what she’s going to spend her £250,000 cash prize on, claiming: “It’s not even about the money, this is just amazing” to which host, Ben Shephard, pointed out: “Well, you haven’t seen it in your bank account yet!” with Sydnie adding: “No, you sort of can’t believe it!”

Talking about what she’ll spend her cash on, the winner said: “Not a clue!” before adding: “I loved my singing coach on BGT, she was amazing and got me through that. I said to her: ‘I can now afford you once a week!’ so I said that to her” with Ben asking: “So the first thing is booking a load of lessons?”

To which Sydnie replied: “Yeah, absolutely! She’s made me in like two months a better singer than I did when I went to college for three years, she’s just amazing and I just love her.”
