Having a super successful dad isn’t always a blessing, which Bronny James has understood since following in his father’s footsteps. After Bronny’s Summer League debut game, he realized it more closely. Though LeBron initially hinted that he is lowering his expectations from his son, the Lakers legend couldn’t keep his cool while discussing the pressure on Bronny.

During an interview with ESPN in Las Vegas, the 39-year-old outlined the burden his son had to carry on from having a great father.

Just imagine if you were a kid, you were born into a situation where your dad was super famous, super wealthy and you the kid still had the drive to want to be able to accomplish things for yourself. I personally don’t know if I would’ve been able to do that if the roles were reversed. When I was coming up, I had no choice… I had to make it out for me. My mom, my family, my hometown, my city,” LeBron said.

Bronny’s college career was not like that of other rookie stars, as he had gone through cardiac arrest, which left his career in doubt. Cutting out that stage for LeBron was a super success, and his son proved his readiness to be an NBA star.

If Bronny wants to stop right now or never play basketball or just wanted be a gamer or wanted to be a chef… he could have done that. People don’t understand how hard that is and the commitment for him to be coming out of heart surgery less than a year ago, for him to be able to be in the NBA, the kid, he’s special,” he added.

What others say is not very important for Bronny at this early stage. But it’s obvious that he already has a solid rim protector in his dad.

LeBron James Opens Up the Missed Opportunity of Bringing Star Power

LeBron James tried hard to bring a championship-caliber roster to the Los Angeles Lakers. James and the Lakers attempted to add star players like Klay Thompson, DeMar DeRozan, and Jonas Valanciunas.

However, they could not persuade even one of them. Nevertheless, James isn’t bothered at all by the outcome of those chances.

I’ve been in this business long enough to know that sometimes it happens and sometimes it don’t. So we don’t sit here and lie about or cry about it,” he said.

We move on and Klay’s a great player. Obviously DeMar’s a great player. Valanciunas was one of those guys who ended up going to Washington, was someone that was in talks with us, but we move on to see how we continue to get better,” he added.
