Former Celtics player Paul Pierce sparked a debate about which United States team is better. This team would dominate the 1992 ‘Dram Team’

Paul Pierce, former key player for the Boston Celtics, joined the debate about which United States team is better: Michael Jordan’s Dream Team that won gold in Barcelona in 1992 or LeBron James’ Team USA competing in Paris 2024.

“This team would dominate the 1992 team,” said the 2008 NBA champion with the Celtics on the podcast Undisputed.

“Who would guard LeBron? The playing style would have been too much for that team. Who would guard Steph Curry? John Stockton?” argued the former NBA player.

The 1992 Dream Team

Since the memorable Barcelona ’92 team, Team USA has stood at the top of the podium in Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000, Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio de Janeiro 2016, and Tokyo 2020.

David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Larry Bird, Scottie Pippen, Michael Jordan, Clyde Drexler, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Chris Mullin, Charles Barkley, and Magic Johnson were the players who participated in 1992 and earned the nickname “Dream Team.”

The current United States team, which is undefeated in the Olympics after two games, includes Stephen Curry, Jrue Holiday, Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, Anthony Edwards, LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Derrick White, Joel Embiid, Anthony Davis, and Bam Adebayo.
