Corey Perry faced criticism over some leaked footage showing the Edmonton Oilers’ locker room after the tough Game 7 loss in the Stanley Cup Finals in Florida.

It’s already been six weeks since the Florida Panthers won the Stanley Cup against the Edmonton Oilers.

After taking a 3-0 lead, the Panthers crumbled under the pressure and lost three straight games. Florida ended up winning the seventh game 2-1.

When you’re this close to achieving your dream of winning the Stanley Cup, it’s tough to lose.

Recently, footage of the Oilers’ locker room following the game leaked, and we can feel the disappointment and frustration in the video.

Check it out here:

In the video, we can see the veteran Corey Perry being completely off, and fans were quick to point out the sad truth about the past five years of Perry’s career: he reached the Stanley Cup Finals four times and lost each time.

Unfortunately, some of them were quite disrespectful while talking about Perry’s struggles in the Finals:

In 2019-20 with the Dallas Stars, he scored nine points in the playoffs but lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Stanley Cup Finals. The next season, he lost in the Finals again, despite scoring 10 points during his playoff run with the Montreal Canadiens.

Then, Perry joined the Lightning, only to lose in the 2021-22 Finals at the hands of the Colorado Avalanche.

The recent loss with the Oilers must have been devastating for him, and these comments only make things worse.

At 39 years old, and after a great career in the NHL, Corey Perry deserves the hockey community’s respect, and it’s truly unfortunate to see people going after him.

Even if he didn’t perform at his usual level in the playoffs, scoring only three points in 19 games, he brings a lot to a locker room and could be a key player in Edmonton as the Oilers try to get back to the Stanley Cup Finals next season.
