Lennox Lewis Makes Emphatic Jake Paul-Mike Tyson Prediction: “He’s Gonna Go Down”

Lennox Lewis is backing the upset in the upcoming spectacle bout between heavyweight legend Mike Tyson and content creator turned fighter Jake Paul.

The fight will be streamed live on Netflix in a global first, but has received criticism from the boxing fraternity for its circus nature.

Paul, whilst extremely inexperience compared to the former undisputed champion, he is 30 years younger and has the benefit of some activity. ‘Iron’ Mike last fought professionally in a 2005 stoppage loss and will step through the ropes a betting underdog.

Lennox Lewis – who defeated Tyson by knockout back in 2002 – told FOX 29 that he enjoyed these type of events.

“That’s what I call them – exhibitions. Youtube fights. It can’t be serious fights, it’s just an event to me … Of course [I watch them] you never know what’s gonna pop up.

I don’t even know what the rules are, I don’t know what’s happening. I’m happy for them, I think they’re gonna make a good bag and make it exciting. There are a lot of kids that love Jake Paul, a lot of kids that love Tyson. They want to see what’s gonna happen in the ring. Me too.”

When it comes to who he is backing, ‘The Lion’ is picking his former opponent “100%.”

“Mike Tyson’s gonna win. Mike Tyson’s not that old. Don’t take him too softly. We’re one year apart … You can fight somebody like that and do well, because the person you’re fighting is not a true fighter and there’s a hundred things that you’ve forgotten that he’s learning.

[The age] will be a little bit of a determining factor if the fight goes on too long, but if they get close and Mike Tyson comes with his ten second combination, if one of those punches catches [Paul] he’s definitely gonna go down.”

Asked if he might fancy a crack at the winner, Lewis left the door open by saying he’s “not ready to answer that yet” but hopes that Tyson “saves a little bit of Jake Paul” for him.
