The Love Island contestants waved goodbye to Tiffany Leighton and Omar Nyame during a brutal surprise elimination on Sunday night’s episode.

The duo, both 25, were dumped from the villa after a brutal twist saw the other islanders forced to choose one girl and one boy to send home.

During the instalment, they discovered that the public had secretly been voting for their favourite couples and those in the bottom four would be up for the boot.

Making a surprise entrance, host Maya Jama, 29, came to break the news to the group, and told them that two unfortunate people would be leaving the villa tonight.

The presenter had the islanders gather around the firepit and announced: ‘Well I didn’t come just to get the tea, I’ve got some important news.

‘The public have been voting for their favourite couple and the couples with the least vote will be at risk of going home.

‘Matilda and Connor are exempt from the vote as the newest islanders.’

Maya revealed that Mimii and Ayo, Nicole and Ciaran, and Harriett and Sean were safe, which meant Ronnie and Tiffany, Grace and Joey, Jess and Omar, and Uma and Wil were all at risk.

Those who landed in the top spots were then tasked with voting amongst themselves for one girl and one boy to send home.

‘You have an important decision to make. Will you please head over to the mini firepit to discuss it now,’ Maya said.

As they aired their thoughts, Ayo explained: ‘I wouldn’t know who Tiffany is interested in at the moment and obviously Ronnie has no one.’

Harriett added:  ‘Omar doesn’t have a connection with Jess. I don’t want to send Ronnie home.’

‘I think it would help me if he [Omar[ was out the equation because I like Matilda,’ Sean confessed.

Speaking after his exit Omar said: ‘I’m definitely gutted as I did want to find my connection in the Villa and see if things were deeper for me in terms of finding love.

‘At the same time it was a great experience, the whole journey, and meeting great people. I’m grateful for this opportunity.

Tiffany added: ‘It feels bittersweet to be leaving the Villa but unfortunately I didn’t find love. However,I built amazing friendships so I’m excited to see everyone after the final.’
