Along with the Juneteenth celebration, Lamar sought to unite the West Coast hip-hop scene by throwing a three-hour live stream with rappers and athletes native to the Los Angeles community.

Dr. Dre appeared and, to the crowd’s delight, performed multiple songs with Lamar. Dre then transitioned the crowd into a “Not Like Us” performance, which Lamar performed five consecutive times.

At one point, NBA stars Russell Westbrook and DeRozan took to the stage to showcase their dance moves and support the West Coast community. While it’s sensible for DeRozan to make an appearance, as he’s from Compton, California, and a USC alum to boot, it’s quite the turn from Drake name-dropping the former Raptors’ star in 2021.

“They love me in my city like DeMar DeRozan,” Drake once rapped, noting Toronto’s love for the player traded for Kawhi Leonard.

However, whatever DeRozan’s current relationship status with Drake doesn’t amount to the influential Los Angeles culture in which the former Spurs forward grew into a man.

NBA rivalries significantly differ from rap beef, so don’t expect any courtside hugs between Drake and DeRozan anytime soon.
