As stuffy as the institution of the royal family might seem at times, Prince William is out there proving that he actually does have a sense of humor. While talking to royal fans in Wales this week, William cracked a dad joke that plenty of parents out there would probably chuckle at.

William was talking to a crowd of onlookers during a visit to Wales

During the visit, one woman complimented him on his parenting, saying, “We love how you are raising your children, they are a credit to you.”

Instead of taking the compliment in stride (though we’re sure he appreciated it), he retorted, “We are looking for a babysitter.”

Plenty of people would love to babysit for Will and Kate

And that includes the woman they were talking to, who replied, “I would apply, but I’ve got no teeth.”

LOL! It seems like Will appreciated being able to banter with someone who’s so friendly like that after the difficult month he and his family have had.

Will also received another compliment during that exchange

The woman also let him know that she believes his late mother, Princess Diana, would love the man he’s grown up to be.

“I love you, you are so real,” she said. “Diana would be so proud of you.”

We don’t doubt that’s true!

This is the first appearance Will and Kate have made since receiving their new titles

After Queen Elizabeth II’s death on September 8, King Charles formally passed on the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales to Will and Kate. And now that the royal period of mourning has come to an end, their first order of business was to visit with the people and community services of Wales on Tuesday.

It looks like Will and Kate’s new chapter is off to a great start

They seem to have already won over the people of Wales — but what will they do next?

Fortunately, as they figure out their new roles, they do have the help of their nanny if they need a night away. But if she’s busy, it sounds like plenty of people are willing to volunteer to watch the kids in her place!
