NBA: Playoffs-Indiana Pacers at Boston Celtics

Jaylen Brown doesn’t care about all the discourse about him before and during the 2024 NBA Finals. Brown has one thing in mind and that is helping the Boston Celtics win their 18th NBA championship. The Celtics are just two wins away from accomplishing their goal against the Dallas Mavericks.

In an interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews ahead of Game 3, Brown was asked about trying to prove his critics wrong. He won the Larry Bird MVP trophy and is a favorite to win the NBA Finals MVP if the Celtics lift the title. However, the three-time All-Star has no time for his haters and only wants to win the championship.

“A championship, that’s more of like a team accolade. That’s what we play this game for. I guess what I was alluding to was more just how people, the discourse around myself and that’s what I don’t give a f**k about. What you do as a team, that’s what I do care about and that’s what I want to achieve. That’s what I want to be a part of and I think that’s what we all are here for,” Brown said.

Jaylen Brown added that it was normal for him to want to get acknowledged early in his career. But now that he’s matured, he’s more confident about himself and his skillset and doesn’t need anyone’s approval.

“You get to the point where no matter how good you are, no matter how you might not feel like that credit is being reciprocated. So you get to the point where you just stop. You just don’t care, you don’t need someone’s outside validation,” Brown said.

Brown has stepped up his game for the Boston Celtics in the playoffs. He won the Larry Bird MVP trophy for being the best player in the Eastern Conference Finals. He’s the likely recipient of the NBA Finals MVP trophy if the Celtics win it all this season.

Stephen A. Smith’s source explains why Jaylen Brown is not marketable

Before the Boston Celtics made the 2024 NBA Finals, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith read what a source told him about Jaylen Brown. Some people like Smith thought that Brown was underrated, but the source explained why the Celtics star was not marketable.

“It’s not so much that he’s underrated, it’s that he’s just not liked because of his, ‘I am better than you,’ attitude. He knows it. It’s the same reason he is not as marketable as he should be. That’s what an NBA source just sent me,” Smith said.

Jaylen Brown responded to Stephen A. and asked him to reveal his source. Isiah Thomas also defended the Celtics forward on social media and called out the eccentric ESPN analyst for even saying what the source sent him on air.
